I have been selected in this years Baltic Open Submission 2024, artworks were selected from over 1400 submissions. An exhibition of 107 artworks showcasing painting, sculpture, photography, video and more by artists, makers, self-taught creatives and hobbyists based in North East England, alongside several works by established artists. ‘Take me there’ is an original piece of art painted on cardboard, from time to time I enjoy painting on surfaces and materials that I will find around me in my studio, I love the natural colour of the carboard and the texture it provides, it also makes my gouache paint pop, also I really do love painting water, swimming or beach scenes, there’s something about the water that I feel that brings people together, its provides me a sense of escapism and it helps nurture my memories of my childhood, I was in and around water a lot growing up in South Africa, memories I will always cherish.
